1808 embodies the larrikin spirit of Australians. In the early days of our nation hard-currency was scarce so alcohol became the currency of choice. The frustrated British government of the time sought to end this practice and force local traders to use only the sovereign currency. The local community were outraged and stormed the barracks of the then governor, Sir William Bligh. On Australia Day 26th of January 1808, irate traders stormed Bligh’s residence to find him hiding under a bed, locked him in his house for a week and celebrated by partying long into the night. Shortly after, there was an amicable resolution to the dispute which appeased both parties. This bloodless coup was the only successful armed takeover of a government in Australia’s history. This “rebellion” on Australia day 26th January 1808 is now proudly fixed in our nation’s history. Identifying with this spirit of adventure and sense of can-do bravery shown by our forbearers we are now bringing 1808 Vodka® to the world.
This is a flawless example of traditional Vodka with its subtle hints of grass and a smooth texture that only the finest distillations can produce. Triple distilled and twice filtered over charcoal this handcrafted vodka is set apart from other vodka by its purity and quality ingredients. Top quality ingredients are paramount to all our products and this forms the basis of our marketing message. One cannot make
the world’s best spirits from inferior ingredients and hope that a clever ‘Stillman’ can mask the results. Try our: ‘Pure Australian Spirit’®.
