Little Creatures Pale Ale
"We love our Pale Ale. Many of us from the brewery have made pilgrimages around the world in search of great varieties of this wonderful style. Surprisingly, there are no great secrets to brewing this type of ale but there are most definitely no great shortcuts.
Bag loads of Cascade and Galaxy whole hop flowers that we source direct from hop growers in Victoria, Tassie and the US are thrown at this beer, creating an intense citrus and grapefruit aroma and flavour that we balance with a careful selection of specialty malts and a local pale malt made to our own specifications.
Preservative and additive free our Pale Ale is live-yeast conditioned in bottles and kegs for unmatched freshness and character. From brewing to release, a batch of pale ale takes about six weeks, allowing for two weeks conditioning in the bottle after packaging. No artificial additives are included, just great ingredients. Pour it into a glass to enjoy it at its best! 5.2%alc"

Little Creatures is a brewing company based in Fremantle, Western Australia, originally established in 2000 by the original brewers of the Matilda Bay Brewing Company. The name "Little Creatures" is inspired by a song lyric from the Talking Heads Little Creatures album and refers to the live yeast cells that turn the sugars in malt wort into alcohol. An independent craft brewery movement in Australia, Little Creatures Pty Ltd is a subsidiary of Little World Beverages, a publicly listed company.
The brewery building, which was formerly used as a boat shed and crocodile farm, is open to the public and contains a café/restaurant.
The original Little Creatures Pale Ale is an American Pale Ale brewed with Cascade (aroma) and Chinook (bittering) whole hop flowers, self-propagated yeast with a secondary bottle fermentation, and Australian malts. They also market an amber ale (Rogers), a Pilsener, a golden ale (Bright Ale) and an apple cider (Pipsqueak).
For the flagship Pale Ale, cool bottle fermentation is carried out with a lager yeast whereas the primary fermentation is most likely accomplished using a US west coast ale yeast such as the "Chico" strain (available as Wyeast 1056 or Safale US-05).
The brewery has won a number of Australian International Beer Awards. It has been named Champion International Brewery 2002, Champion Australasian Brewery 2002 and the Pale Ale has been named Champion Ale (2002, 2007) and Champion Bottled Ale (2001).

Little World Beverages (LWB) is an Australian beverage and hospitality company, best known for its ownership of the Little Creatures brewery. Although often associated with the independent craft brewery movement in Australia, Little World Beverages is in fact a publicly listed company, about 40% owned by the giant Japanese-controlled beverages company Lion Nathan, one of Australia's "big two" beverage companies, (the other being the Fosters Group.) Other major shareholders include founding shareholder and director Adrian Fini, (approx 17.5% through the Fini Group Pty Ltd and Yalaba Pty Ltd); Nic Trimboli, also a founding and current Executive Director (approx 8%); David Martin (approx 7.5%) and Howard Cearns, through the Cearns Family Trust and Back Veranda Pty Ltd (approx 7%).
The company was launched in November 2000 by several ex-staff and shareholders of the Maitilda Bay Brewing Company after that company was bought by Carlton & United Beverages (CUB). The company was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange on 20 October 2005 ASX:LWB.
Little Creatures Brewing Pty Ltd is the brewing subsidiary of Little World Beverages Pty Ltd and currently operates out of one brewery in Fremantle, WA, Australia.
The brewery has a stable of four beer brands.
Little Creatures Pale Ale was the brewery's original beer and continues to be its flagship; a mid strength ale (Rogers) is also brewed, along with a Pilsner and a "bright" ale (Little Creatures Bright Ale).
Alongside these staples brands, Little Creatures also produce Single Batch releases - in "pint-sized" (568ml) - bottles. Examples have included a Brown Ale, an Imperial India Pale Ale, A Märzen and an Oatmeal Stout.
In March 2009, LWB opened a second brewery - known as the White Rabbit brewery - in Healesville, Victoria, Australia. White Rabbit is a smaller operation than Little Creatures, with distinct branding and products. They currently market White Rabbit Dark Ale and White Rabbit White Ale.. A hospitality facility operates alongside brewing operations. The Heavlesville is also where the Pipsqueak Cider is produced.
In February 2009, it was announced that LWB had taken a 20% stake in the Stone & Wood Brewing Company based in Byron Bay, NSW, Australia.
Little World Beverages operates three hospitality/entertainment venues: Fremantle, WA, Fitzroy, Vic; and a third venue in Healesville, Vic.
Little World Beverages is the exclusive Australian distributor of Aspall Cyder, one of England's oldest cider makers.
Smell: Fruity, sligtly bitter
Taste: Nice ale with more bitterness than the other "Little Creatures". This is about as bitter as I want it, any more and than this and it will be too much. It has the same nice fruity or flowery taste that I like in the other beers from this brewery.
I rate this beer at -5/5 on a scale from 1 to 5 where 5 is best.
